Brussel Sprouts & Bacon
I went grocery shopping with my mother the other day and we decided that I would try cooking some new vegetables with dinner. I usually cook the same 5 or 6 vegetables so we were ready for something new. The first up in our adventures in vegetables: brussel sprouts. I remembered reading a recipe on We Are Not Martha where they made brussel sprouts with bacon & knew that’s what I had to make. I didn’t have all the ingredients they used, but I adapted it to what we had in the house.

Ingredients & Directions:
- Brussels Sprouts, trimmed and quartered (about 10 pieces)
- 1/2 lb. Bacon, cut in little pieces
- 1 Onion, thinly sliced
- Salt and Pepper to taste
In a pot of boiling water seasoned with a tablespoons of salt, cook brussels sprouts for 5 minutes. Remove from water and immediately put them in an ice bath.

In a large stir fry pan, cook bacon until it is crispy on medium high heat. When bacon is crisp, remove from pan and place bacon on a paper towel to soak up as much bacon grease possible. Drain grease from pan. Add brussels sprouts, bacon & onions to the pan and stir fry everything for 5 minutes or until brussels sprouts begin to brown.

Season with salt and pepper and serve.
